Letters, March 27, 1842 and Jan. 2, 1843, to cousin Thomas McReynolds in Detroit, Michigan, discusses his decision for temperance made before he left Ireland, his situation since coming to America and various family members. He writes extensively of his belief in the Mormon religion and its precepts, his work in the church and the Mormon community, Nauvoo Legion and a description of the Mormon Temple and Nauvoo House.
